The Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning, chaired by Hon. Francis Kuria Kimani, will today table its report on the Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Tax Procedures (Amendment) Bill, 2024, in Parliament.

The Committee, which processed eight bills within two weeks, worked diligently to incorporate public input gathered during hearings held in seven counties.

Hon. Kuria Kimani revealed that members sat through the night until 5:00 a.m. to finalize the report ahead of its presentation.

“This report reflects the views of Kenyans who participated in the hearings and includes responses to submissions that were not adopted,” Hon. Kimani noted.

The proposed amendments aim to refine Kenya’s tax framework to enhance revenue generation and streamline compliance.

The bills are scheduled for Second Reading this afternoon, marking a critical stage in their legislative journey.

The Committee’s proactive approach, including conducting extensive public consultations, underscores Parliament’s commitment to inclusive and transparent lawmaking.
