Kenya is deepening its partnership with the Government of Japan through development projects that are transforming infrastructure, energy, trade, and food security across the country.

Principal Secretary for the National Treasury, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, highlighted some of the key initiatives making a tangible impact.

These include the Mombasa Port Area Road Development Project (Dongo Kundu Bypass), which has improved port efficiency and regional trade, and the Mombasa Special Economic Zone infrastructure projects, which are laying the groundwork for industrial growth, increased exports, and job creation along the Coast.

In the energy and agriculture sectors, progress continues steadily. The Olkaria Geothermal Rehabilitation Project is boosting clean energy production, while the Mwea Irrigation Development Project is expected to enhance agricultural productivity and strengthen food security once the remaining infrastructure is completed.

“These projects demonstrate the strong collaboration between Kenya and Japan, and the positive impact they are having on our economy and communities,” said Dr. Kiptoo.

Dr. Kiptoo also received a courtesy call from Madam Miyazaki Katsura, Executive Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), during which both sides reaffirmed the longstanding and valued partnership between the two countries.
