Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sensationally claimed that his life is in danger and there is a well-orchestrated plan to assassinate him.
In a strongly worded statement to the Inspector-General of the National Police Service, Douglas Kanja, Gachagua decried the withdrawal of his security, saying it has exposed him to organised criminal gangs who are after his life.
The former deputy president went on to list instances that he believes were attempts at his life, including the chaos at a funeral in Limuru in which he was in attendance and the ACK St. Peters’ Cathedral in Nyeri, where gangs attacked the Christian faithful where he was attending a Sunday service.
Gachagua further alleged that there have been deliberate plans to attack his homes in Nairobi and Nyeri and his properties across the country by individuals well known to Kanja and security agencies have been trailing him with marked and unmarked vehicles, a move he said violates his right to privacy.
Consequently, the former DP demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of violence and be provided with security with immediate effect.
Gachagua also asked Kanja to stop with immediate effect NIS officers and other security agencies from stalking and trailing him and his family members.
He also demanded the protection of his homes and property.
