Ex-Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko has once again been rewarded for his ongoing humanitarian efforts, with two of the world’s most prestigious awards given to him during ceremonies held at his Upper Hill office.

Sonko was awarded the Civility Voice Diplomats (CVD) Global Humanitarian Award at the inaugural ceremony, an award bestowed in recognition of his relentless efforts in ensuring that peace, civility, and humanitarian values were maintained globally. The award was rigorously scrutinized by Dr. Edina Kangwana and endorsed by Ambassador Dominic Obadiah, CVD President and Founder.

“I was honored to be awarded this prize after passing their rigorous vetting process,” Sonko said, thanking them for the recognition of his efforts with vulnerable populations.

During the second ceremony, Builders in Action, a humanitarian organization, presented Sonko with the iChange Nations Builders in Action Legacy Award. This particular award recognizes people who do the extra mile in helping other people, sacrificing their time and resources in doing so.

Sonko expressed gratitude to senior personalities like Dr. Reuben West, ICN Special Envoy, and Dr. Clyde Rivers, ICN President, for standing by him. “I am committed to sustained efforts to empower vulnerable members of society,” he further said.

He also reflected on his past awards like an award from the European Digital University (EDU) in India and UNESC India, along with various local awards including “Best Governor in Kenya on Social Media,” and a special mention for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, Sonko appreciated Kenyan media stars and social champions who have previously honored his charitable efforts within the community, and reaffirmed his vow to provide services to the needy, poor, and vulnerable.

“These awards are not just awards to me; they are a calling to remain a servant leader,” Sonko further said.
