Patrick Mwiti Arandu has taken an oath of office as the new Commissioner General of Prisons.

Arandu took the oath on the morning of Wednesday, July 24, in an event held at State House Nairobi, presided over by President William Ruto.

He takes over from Brigadier (Rtd) John Warioba who proceeded on a terminal leave pending the end of his tenure.

Arandu’s appointment marks a notable shift in the administration of the country’s correctional facilities.

Also, in the appointments announced on Friday by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed in a statement to newsrooms, Ruto redeployed Noor Gabow within the Public Service.

The president appointed Eliud Lagat as the acting Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, and James Kamau as the acting Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service.

Further, Ranson Lolmodooni was appointed Commandant, General Service Unit (GSU), while Gilbert Masengeli was appointed Commandant, Administration Police Training College (APTC), Embakasi.

The head of state also appointed William Yiampoy as the new Director of Operations, Police Headquarters and Kainga Mathiu as the new Commandant, National Police Leadership Academy (NPSA), Ngong.
