The government is set to expand access to public services through the establishment of new Huduma Centres in Mwea and Lamu East constituencies as part of efforts to bring government services closer to citizens.

Public Service and Human Capital Development Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku said the Ministry is working with legislators to fast-track the operationalization of the centres, noting that Parliamentarians play a key role in shaping public policy and improving service delivery.

The CS said he held discussions with Ruweida Mohamed and Mary Maingi to review progress in establishing Huduma Centres in their respective constituencies.
“We value the contributions of Parliamentarians in developing public service delivery solutions. This evening, I engaged Lamu East MP Hon. Captain Ruweida Mohamed and Mwea MP Hon. Mary Maingi to take stock of the progress on the operationalization of Huduma Centres in their constituencies,” Ruku said.

The Ministry is currently preparing to operationalize Huduma Centre Mwea, which will become the 61st Huduma Kenya Centre once opened.
Plans are also underway to establish Huduma Centre Lamu East, which will enhance access to essential government services for residents in the coastal constituency.

The expansion of Huduma Centres is part of the government’s broader strategy to decentralize public services, reduce the distance citizens travel to access government support, and improve efficiency in service delivery.

Huduma Kenya Centres provide access to multiple government services under one roof, including applications for official documents, registration services, and other public sector transactions.
