The Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC) is nearing completion, marking a major step in Kenya’s ambition to position Nairobi as a leading global business tourism and conferencing destination.

Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Raymond Omollo said the project embodies the 2025 Jamhuri Day theme, “Tourism, Wildlife and MICE,” while contributing to the national conversation on Kenya Beyond Vision 2030.

The transformation of the iconic Bomas of Kenya into a world-class conferencing and exhibitions hub will bring business tourism together with the country’s cultural and wildlife heritage.

Under the supervision of Kenya Defence Forces Engineers, construction works are progressing, with tiling, glazing, roofing, interior works, external finishes and access roads nearing completion.

The 323,500-square-metre complex will feature an 11,000-delegate convention arena with 35 meeting rooms, a 5,000-seat main auditorium, a 3,500-seat secondary hall, a Presidential Pavilion accommodating up to 30 Heads of State and a 3,000-capacity banquet hall.

Future phases will include luxury hotels, a shopping mall, food court, recreational facilities, heliport and extensive parking.

Omollo said the project also has a strategic security dimension, requiring a safe environment for international visitors, critical infrastructure and major national events.
