The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa, on Tuesday 22nd 2024 chaired a meeting between Ministry of Health leaders and the Presidential Task Force on Human Resources for Health, led by Prof. Khama Rogo.
Also in attendance was PS for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni. The session provided an update on the Task Force’s progress in addressing key human resource challenges that are crucial to Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.

The Task Force’s recommendations focus on resolving staffing shortages, uneven distribution of healthcare workers, and inadequate training facilities—issues that have hindered the country’s healthcare delivery.
Dr. Barasa reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering health workers and ensuring equitable access to healthcare for all Kenyans, as part of advancing the UHC initiative.
