Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chief Executive Officer Harold Ndege has obtained a court order halting his removal from office.

In an urgent application filed at the Milimani Commercial Court on Friday, Ndege secured orders restraining the FKF President and the National Executive Committee (NEC) from deliberating on or acting upon a show-cause notice dated December 31, 2025.

Lady Justice Agnes Nzei, who issued the orders, scheduled the matter for mention on January 27, when the court is expected to issue further directions.

The ruling comes barely a week before FKF was set to convene an NEC meeting to remove Ndege from office and announce his replacement.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by FKF President Hussein Mohammed, the meeting was to consider four agenda items, including one that appeared to have sealed Ndege’s fate at Kandanda House.

The meeting was also expected to recommend a replacement for the CEO and confirm minutes of the previous sitting.

Ndege, a former Kenyan international and Tusker FC defender, was appointed FKF CEO in February 2025.

Ahead of the scheduled January 15 meeting, he had been issued with a show-cause letter requiring him to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

The letter cited what FKF President Hussein Mohammed described as sustained failures in leadership, accountability and execution of duties. Ndege was asked to respond to 21 issues, including failure to notify the FKF President of an invitation from a parliamentary committee, poor planning in the appointment of the under-17 technical bench, mismanagement of the under-15 national team, and mishandling of court cases.

Other accusations include chronic absenteeism, a breakdown in communication with the FKF President, failure to lead on security and crowd control matters, shortcomings in the Eastern Division One and Two leagues, and undertaking unauthorized official travel, among others.

With the court order now in place, Ndege will remain in office pending the hearing and determination of the case.
