Self-proclaimed activist and philanthropist Eric Omondi on Friday 13th September has come to the aid of former Nation Media Group (NMG) Journalist Nasibo Kabale.
In a brief video, Eric revealed that the former journalist has been rescued from the and has received necessary help. Eric spoke during a visit to the former journalist’s home in Jamhuri. He said that Nasibo had been flown to a health facility in Nairobi and is yet to undergo rehabilitation.
Eric shared, “As I am speaking to you, Nasibo is safe and has been flown to a rehabilitation centre with the help of the brother. “She is fine and will be fine but we needed to know what happened because when I saw the video, there were varying stories about her situation.”
Nasibo Kabale’s Severe Mental Health Challenge
Nasibo Kabale is facing a dire mental health crisis.Nasibo narrated the situation disclosing that she was diagnosed with depression while working at NMG and she once contemplated quitting the job and committing suicide.
During a recent interview Nasibo narrated, “It happened that the company dismissed people from the office but fortunately I was among the five that were retained but the job became challenging after I began witnessing people dying. It disturbed me,”

After covering high-stress stories inclusive of the COVID-19 pandemic, her depression became worse.
Despite seeking treatment her mental health continues to deteriorate making her to leave her job. Before the rescue, viral videos depicted her homeless and living in the streets. Kabale is seen holding a knife for protection and in distress. Her dire situation has elicited a public outcry. It has also highlighted the need for mental health support in Kenya especially for high pressure fields like Journalism.
Calls have been made for intervention and support to help Kabale and others facing similar challenges.
