The Government has assured Harambee Stars players and the technical team of continued support as the national side prepares for the upcoming AFCON 2027 qualifier against Eritrea.
In a statement the, Cabinet Secretary for Sports Salim Mvurya said having taken notes of the concerns expressed on the welfare and allowances of the players, would like to reiterate that this is a very important issue in the effective preparation and performance of the team in representing Kenya.
According to Mvurya, the government has always been fully supportive of Harambee Stars and other national teams and ensured that they have adequate facilities for preparations travelling accommodation, allowances, and technical support for international assignments
It also pointed out that the organization had met financial obligations towards the past activities, including the allowances for the Harambee Stars assignments in Zambia, South Africa and Turkey and the Under, 20 CECAFA tournament in Tanzania.
The government further assured that the unpaid allowances of the Harambee Stars technical bench were paid through the FKF as also directly to individual national team players.
However, the Ministry indicated that the payments towards the succeeding assignments, which are still due, have been laid down the expected administrative procedures plus FKF.
He requested everyone to go through the correct procedures in settling any pending administrative issues that wouldn’t disturb the team preparations.
The government renewed its support of Harambee Stars ahead of PAMOJA AFCON 2027.
