Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has petitioned the High Court to compel the police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to produce seven youths allegedly abducted in December, dead or alive.
In a case filed at the High Court in Kibera on Monday, Omtatah, represented by lawyer Philip Langat, sued the Inspector General of Police, the DCI, and the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The senator is demanding answers regarding the whereabouts of Gideon Kibet, Ronny Kiplagat, Steve Kavingo Mbisi, Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, and Kelvin Muthoni.
Omtatah’s application seeks to compel the authorities to produce the youths or, in the alternative, explain why they should not be released on bail or bond.

“The respondents should either produce the bodies of the missing persons or release them from detention,” Omtatah stated in his affidavit.
The case highlights growing concerns over alleged enforced disappearances and detentions without trial, sparking calls for accountability from law enforcement agencies.
Further hearings are expected as the court deliberates on the matter.
