Blogger Ndiang’ui Kinyagia has asked the High Court to allow him to testify on the events surrounding his disappearance, marking a new twist in a case that has drawn public interest.

Appearing before Justice Chacha Mwita on Thursday, Ndiang’ui, who was accompanied by his mother, said he is ready to disclose what transpired during the period in question.

“I want the court to hear the truth about what happened,” Ndiang’ui told the judge.

The request came after the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), which had previously represented him, filed a notice to cease acting for the petitioner, leaving him without legal counsel during the session.

Ndiang’ui pleaded for an adjournment to review court documents and also requested an extension of the existing conservatory orders barring his arrest, expressing fear for his life and possible detention.\

He assured the court that Advocates Wahome Thuku and Kibe Mungai would represent him in subsequent proceedings.

Also present in court was Senior Counsel Martha Karua, who urged transparency in handling the case. Karua stressed that Ndiang’ui and his family must be accorded a fair hearing.

“I believe the court deserves to know the truth because the matter has implications for the security of others,” Karua said.

Justice Mwita is expected to issue directions after reviewing the submissions.
