The National Land Commission (NLC) is carrying out intensive field grievance redress sessions this week along the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP) corridor to resolve land disputes and protect the rights of Project Affected Persons (PAPs).

The exercise targets settlements impacted by the upgrade of the Isiolo–Kulamawe–Modogashe Road, a strategic project designed to boost regional connectivity and economic integration.

To ensure comprehensive coverage, two teams have been deployed. One, led by Senior NLC Valuer Josiah Laibuni, is engaging communities from Isiolo through Gambela, Ndumuru, Bullo, Kachuru, Yaqbarsadi, Kulamawe, and Garbatula.

The second, headed by Principal Valuer Peter Kaunda, is covering the eastern corridor, including Bulo 2, Barkuke, Eldere, Eldera, Janju, Kambi Samaki, and Modogashe Township.

Ahead of the field sessions, the teams held courtesy calls with the Deputy County Commissioner of Garbatula, Charles Wandimi, and the Area Chief of Modogashe location, Mohamed Abagala.

Both officials welcomed the initiative and stressed the importance of collaboration in addressing grievances, which range from claims by omitted PAPs and succession disputes to delays in fund disbursement.

The project is being implemented under multiple packages, including the Isiolo–Kulamawe–Modogashe corridor, the Wajir–Tarbaj–Kotulo Wajir route, and the Kutulo Mandera–Kobo–Elwak corridor, with ongoing land acquisition in Isiolo and Meru counties.

The NLC reiterates its commitment to ensuring that all affected persons are heard and supported throughout the project’s implementation.
