Kenya Airways has expanded its fleet by acquiring a new Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The 170-seat aircraft, which has been acquired through a lease deal from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) brings the total fleet of the national carrier to 35.
The addition will significantly enhance KQ’s capacity, providing passengers with more travel options and greater flexibility.
"The addition of this B737-800 marks a pivotal moment in our fleet expansion journey. It will increase our seat capacity and is a demonstration of our ability to adapt and grow in a challenging operating environment, even as the global aviation industry faces challenges in aircraft availability," said Kenya Airways CEO Allan Kilavuka.
Kilavuka said the company is actively pursuing further expansion opportunities and they are currently engaged in advanced discussions with leading aircraft manufacturers and lessors.
"We are committed to building a robust and modern fleet that supports our vision for growth. The acquisition of the B737-800 aircraft from DAE is a great milestone and solidifies our position as a reliable and forward-thinking partner in the aviation industry," Kilavuka added.
