Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the fight against corruption through preventive measures and improved accountability systems.
Mung’aro on Monday hosted officials from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), led by Coast Region Manager George Oira, for an entry meeting marking the beginning of a one-week engagement in Kilifi County.
The engagement focused on conducting a comprehensive Corruption Risk Assessment aimed at identifying potential vulnerabilities within the County Government and recommending measures to address them.
The Governor said his administration is adopting a proactive approach to fighting corruption by identifying risks, closing loopholes and strengthening internal controls and systems designed to prevent corruption before it occurs.
The meeting brought together County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers and Directors from various county departments.
Mung’aro also highlighted a partnership with GIZ through a workshop aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability under the Access to Information (ATI) and Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) policy frameworks.
According to Mung’aro, the fight against corruption requires collective responsibility, urging county officials to uphold integrity, transparency and responsible management of public resources.
The Governor pledged to continue strengthening institutional safeguards to ensure county resources are protected and used solely for the benefit of Kilifi residents.
