Kenyan youth have been challenged to take center stage in safeguarding and promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage by embracing digital tools, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Speaking during the opening of the Culture Grows Symposium at the National Museum of Kenya in Nairobi, Culture, Arts and Heritage Principal Secretary Ummi Bashir said the government is committed to integrating tech-savvy youth in the preservation of physical and intangible heritage through inclusive and favourable policies.

Bashir cited the national artificial intelligence strategy 2025-2030. He said the initiative gives priority to the empowerment of communities at the grassroots by positioning culture as an engine of job creation.

The global culture forum hosted by the British Council seeks to explore the intersection between indigenous knowledge and digital technology.
