Doctors in Kiambu County have vowed to continue with their strike after the county government failed to comply with court orders directing it to address their grievances.
The medics, led by Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists Dentists Union, KMPDU Secretary General Dr. Davji Bhimji Atellah, are protesting against salary delays, lack of promotions, and what they describe as intimidation by county officials.
“The situation is dire: Hospitals without doctors. Patients without drugs. Caregivers under threat. Leaders without a plan,” Dr. Atellah stated.
Now in their 60th day of industrial action, the doctors have resolved to strike every Wednesday until their concerns are addressed, as healthcare services across the county continue to deteriorate.
