Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has hinted at plans to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2027 under a new political party, signaling a possible fallout with Orange Democratic Movement.
Speaking during an interview with NTV Kenya on Monday, the Embakasi East MP said a new political outfit will be unveiled ahead of the next General Election and will field candidates across various elective positions.
When asked whether there would be a new party, Babu responded, “That, I can assure you, 100 per cent, definitely.”
The outspoken legislator also appeared to criticise ODM, claiming the party no longer reflects its original identity.
“ODM does not exist; sahii tuko na lemon,” he said.
Babu further revealed that the emerging political movement, identified as Linda Mwananchi, will field a candidate on the ballot in the 2027 elections.
Although he stopped short of officially declaring his gubernatorial bid, his remarks have heightened speculation that he is positioning himself for the Nairobi governor race.
