Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has pointed out that politicians are the main security threat to the country.

The CS indicated that the culture of leaders using the most vulnerable youth for their political purposes by endangering the lives of citizens through accomplices or even goons has continued to escalate to intolerable levels.

He noted that these misbehaving politicians will face a strong hand from the law regardless of their political affiliation.

“Political goons and gangs that have been emerging are a threat to our national security. Apart from that, politicians have also misused picketing for stirring up chaos instead of people simply making their point without causing any damage, ” declared the CS.

The CS was speaking at the National Police College Embakasi ‘A’ and Embakasi ‘B’ campuses to evaluate how far the recruit training has gone as well as the continuing capacity building of serving officers.

“It is actually politicians that threaten security the most. They entice young people to become their thugs and gangs and the situation has been deteriorating year on year, ” said the CS.

According to Murkomen, protests have, unfortunately degenerated into chaos and anarchy. “The modus operandi is very disheartening for the nation when the assailants go after security installations like police stations and the Parliament, ” he said.
