Kenya is intensifying efforts to attract more tourists by promoting the country as the home of human origin and a top travel destination for innovation, sports and conference tourism, adventure, wildlife, culture, and beach holidays.
President William Ruto officially opened the 2025 Great Wildebeest Migration global live coverage in partnership with China Media Group Africa, at the Masai Mara, Narok County.
The head of state said diversifying tourism products beyond wildlife, national parks and beaches to enhance efforts to attract five million international visitors annually by the year 2027.
“Our goal is to attract up to five million visitors in the medium term and ensure that every user of our tourism product leaves with a reason to return home to Kenya, the origin of humankind.” Said President Ruto
Kenya has over 50 national parks and reserves and numerous conservancies, including community and private-led ones.
President Ruto lauded community led conservation efforts that has led to the doubling of the elephant population to 36,000.
He said the protected areas provide safe and scenic environments for both wildlife and tourists, with activities like safaris, birdwatching, and hiking.
“We are expanding our tourism products beyond wildlife, national parks and beaches to include a wide array. Digital innovation, sports and conference tourism, and culture are the new areas on offer.” Ruto added
