Kisii woman Milka Moraa is on the verge of being a homeowner under President William Ruto’s ambitious Affordable Housing Programme (AHP).
Moraa shot to the limelight after being humiliated by controversial preacher Pastor James Ng’ang’a after imploring him to help her settle rent arrears of KSh 8,000.
Instead of helping, Ng’ang’a asked Moraa to report the matter to the police or ask the government to give her a house under the Affordable Housing Programme.
From Ng’ang’a’s mouth to God’s ears, Moraa on Wednesday, February 5, met Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome where she finalised her registration for home ownership under the Affordable Housing Programme through Boma Yangu.
During the meeting at Ardhi House, Wahome announced Moraa had paid her deposit and would continue paying as she rents to own one of the houses in the Mukuru Site.
"In two months, Milka is now set to own a self-contained home at Mukuru Site, that is complete with essential amenities, including a kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. I must also recognise Pastor Ng’ang’a for directing Milka to Affordable Housing, asante sana," said Wahome.
Wahome seized the opportunity to encourage all Kenyans to register for home ownership through the Boma Yangu platform or dialing USSD *832#.
