Naiyanoi Ng’eno, the widow of the late Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno, has been endorsed by her family and clan to contest the parliamentary seat left vacant following her husband’s death.
Family members and elders from the Ng’eno lineage reportedly gave their backing for Naiyanoi to vie for the seat, setting the stage for her possible entry into the upcoming by-election in the Narok County constituency.
The endorsement comes weeks after the death of Johana Ng’eno, who served as the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr before his passing in a tragic helicopter crash in Nandi County on February 28, 2026.
Ng’eno died alongside five other people after a helicopter flying from Wilson Airport in Nairobi crashed in Chepkiep area in Mosop, Nandi County.
Following consultations within the family and the wider clan, elders are said to have agreed that Naiyanoi should seek the seat in order to continue the political legacy of her late husband and maintain the family’s connection with the constituency.
Naiyanoi, a lawyer and daughter of former Narok Senator Stephen Ole Ntutu, has previously been involved in community advocacy programmes focusing on women’s rights and civic education.
Her endorsement signals the beginning of political realignments in Emurua Dikirr as leaders and residents prepare for a by-election to replace the late legislator.
The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Ng’eno, who had represented the constituency since its establishment in 2013 and was serving his latest term after winning re-election in the 2022 general election.
If she formally enters the race, Naiyanoi will seek to succeed her late husband in representing the people of Emurua Dikirr in the National Assembly.
