The government, through Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, has declared Friday, June 6, a public holiday.
In a special gazette notice dated June 3, seen by TUKIO.co.ke, Murkomen announced the holiday to mark Eid-ul-Adha, allowing the Muslim faithful to celebrate their second-holiest festival of the year.
"It is notified for the general information of the public that in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Friday, 6th June, 2025, shall be a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Adha," read the notice.
Eid-ul-Adha, also the festival of sacrifice, is celebrated by Muslims across the world to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah.
