Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza administration’s commitment to equitable development across all regions of the country.
Speaking during an empowerment meeting in Machakos Town Constituency on Friday, the DP emphasized that no part of the country will be left behind in the government’s development agenda.“The government is determined to roll out development projects and programs in every part of the country. No area will be discriminated against,” said Kindiki.
During the event, which focused on empowering micro and small enterprises owned by women and youth, the Deputy President highlighted ongoing development initiatives in Machakos County.
These include the construction of 15 modern markets and several affordable housing projects, among them thousands of housing units for university students and technical training institute trainees.
Kindiki also stressed the importance of national cohesion, warning against attempts to divide Kenyans along ethnic lines. “We must unite as one people. Development thrives where there is peace and unity,” he stated.
On agriculture, the Deputy President noted that recent policy reforms, including the provision of subsidized fertilizer, are beginning to bear fruit. “Coffee, tea, and sugarcane farmers are now earning more from their daily toil. Dairy farmers are also benefiting, with milk prices rising to a minimum of 50 shillings per litre,” he said.
Nationwide, the government is constructing 400 modern and fresh produce markets to enhance the business environment for farmers, traders, and consumers. In Machakos County, markets under construction include the Machakos Town Modern Market at a cost of KSh 450 million and Matuu Market at KSh 350 million.
Additionally, the Deputy President revealed that the national government has allocated KSh 1.4 billion for the last-mile electricity connectivity programme in Machakos County, which will connect an additional 6,500 households to the national grid.
The empowerment meeting is part of ongoing government efforts to uplift local enterprises and drive inclusive economic growth.
