Mugithi star and police officer Samidoh, born Samuel Ndirangu Muchoki, is currently facing disciplinary action from the National Police Service. He has officially been labelled a deserter after failing to report back to duty following the end of his leave on May 27, 2025. An internal report shows he has now been absent without permission for more than ten days, and attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful. As a result, an arrest order has been issued, and his salary has been put on hold.
Samidoh is stationed at the Anti-Stock Theft Unit in Gilgil. His recent posting there came after a video emerged showing him chanting anti-government slogans during a live performance. Although police officials described his transfer as a routine reshuffle, many believe it was linked to his growing political commentary through music.
According to police rules, an officer who goes missing from duty for over ten consecutive days without proper authorization is considered a deserter. This can lead to termination or even a prison sentence of up to two years. The situation has raised public interest and stirred conversations about the challenges of balancing public service and a high-profile entertainment career.
Meanwhile, Samidoh seems undisturbed by the developments. He has been spotted performing in the United States and recently posted a cryptic quote on social media from Abraham Lincoln, possibly alluding to his personal stance on justice and liberty. He has not made any official comment about the desertion claim or the arrest warrant. With the police taking firm steps, Samidoh could be arrested and face disciplinary measures if he returns to Kenya without resolving the matter.
