Friends and fans of well-known media personality Edward Kwach have come together in an urgent appeal for blood donations, as he undergoes treatment at Coptic Hospital. The beloved broadcaster, affectionately known simply as “Kwach,” is currently admitted and in need of immediate support from the public.
The appeal, which has been widely shared on social media platforms by prominent figures such as Robert Alai and Caroline Mutoko, calls on Kenyans to step forward and donate blood to help raise Kwach’s iron and haemoglobin levels. Doctors attending to him have indicated that at least four pints of blood are urgently required.
Supporters and well-wishers are being asked to visit the laboratory at Coptic Hospital and inform the staff that their donation is specifically for Edward Kwach. His family and friends have expressed their deep gratitude to those who have already stepped up and those considering donating.
To be eligible to donate, individuals must meet several key health criteria. Donors should be between the ages of 16 and 65, weigh at least 50 kilograms, and have a normal blood pressure reading. In addition, donors must have a haemoglobin level of 12.5g/dl or higher, should not be under any medication, and must not have been recently vaccinated. People living with chronic illnesses such as asthma or high blood pressure are advised not to donate.
