Kenya is strengthening its position as a leader in digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) following high-level engagements at the AI Action Summit.
ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo, speaking at the summit’s closing plenary, highlighted key discussions aimed at boosting Kenya’s AI ecosystem and global digital partnerships.
Kabogo met Singapore’s Minister Josephine Teo, where they reaffirmed Kenya and Singapore’s shared ambition to connect Africa and Southeast Asia’s digital economies.

“Today at the closing plenary of the AI Action Summit, I had the honour of meeting Singapore’s Hon. Minister Josephine Teo. We reaffirmed our partnership as leading tech nations and our shared ambition to connect Africa and Southeast Asia’s digital economies. I also reiterated our commitment to the ITU and our active role in initiatives like the IGF, AI for Good Summit, and WSIS20,”Kabogo said.

In a push for Africa-wide AI integration, Kabogo also held talks with Ghana’s Minister Sam Nartey George, pledging to promote AI adoption in a unified and inclusive manner across the continent.
Further strengthening Kenya’s position in the AI space, Kabogo engaged Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, exploring potential collaborations and inviting his team to work with Kenyan innovators.

Kabogo also had a brief but strategic conversation with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and his Special Envoy on Technology, where Kenya was recognized as a key player in leveraging AI to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
