Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has urged the Social Health Authority (SHA) Board to stay focused on delivering honest, efficient services as Kenya rolls out Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Speaking during a meeting at SHA headquarters in Nairobi, Duale said it was time to tighten fraud checks, stick to budget limits, and lead with integrity. “Every decision we make here touches real lives from an expectant mother in Migori to an elderly man in Garissa,” he said.

He stressed the need to keep administrative spending under the 5% cap, make timely claim payments, and grow revenue to keep the TaifaCare programme running smoothly. But above all, he warned that fraud remains the biggest risk.

“The trust Kenyans have placed in this programme demands that we protect every shilling meant for their health,” he said.

The meeting was chaired by SHA Board Chair Dr. Abdi Mohamed and attended by SHA CEO Dr. Mercy Mwangangi and Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth.
