The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party will immediately commence grassroots elections in the remaining 20 counties following a resolution by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced.

Kindiki, who spoke on Tuesday evening after chairing the NEC meeting at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi, said the decision is meant to fast-track the party’s internal democratic processes ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“This evening, the National Executive Committee of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has convened at the party headquarters. It has decided that the party grassroots elections for the remaining 20 counties will proceed immediately,” he said.

He added that the National Elections Board (NEB) has been instructed to begin the registration process without delay.

“The NEB has been directed to issue notice of the commencement of the registration processes immediately, and within the next seven days announce the grassroots election dates, which should fall within 45 days effective today,” Kindiki noted.

The grassroots polls are expected to complete the nationwide process of electing party officials from ward level upwards, a key step in strengthening UDA’s organisational structure and preparing for political realignment ahead of 2027.

Party insiders say the exercise will also help resolve internal disputes in some regions, ensure proper representation, and consolidate UDA’s support base across the country.

The party conducted grassroots elections in several counties earlier in the year, but scheduling and logistical concerns delayed the remaining cluster.
