President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto, has been praised by the majority of Kenyans after adding another matatu, dubbed Mood, to the public transport sector.
The flashy vehicle, believed to cost over KSh 14 million, was unveiled on Friday, July 18, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, an event that was graced by thousands of matatu culture enthusiasts.
Reacting to the move, a section of social media users said the matatu will be a source of livelihood to several youth, lauding the First Son for impacting lives.
Here are a few comments sampled by TUKIO.co.ke:
Wanja Nyarari said: "Let me take this moment to congratulate Captain George Ruto on the launch of his new matatu, MOOD, a vibrant and bold addition to Nairobi’s public transport culture. It’s youthful, expressive, and daring, just like him and the GenZs."
Geofrey Kinara said: "BIG UP to George Ruto for investing and supporting the youths Nganya culture."
Sharleen Maina said: "Changing and impacting lives. To the ones critisising MOOD, how many lives have you changed?"
Day George Ruto supported Dubai jobseekers
While at it, Wanja Nyarari recounted the day George sponsored 30 job seekers who were travelling to Dubai.
Nyarari said the first son paid for passports, visas, police clearances and tickets in full, for the 30 young people who approached him for help.
On the day they were flying out, Nyarari said he boarded the same aircraft with them to make sure they were okay.
"Earlier this year, I posted an advert about job opportunities in Dubai. George personally reached out to support his people. Not for show. Not for PR. He paid for passports, visas, police clearances and tickets in full, for 30 young people who approached him for help.
On the day they were flying out, he boarded the same aircraft with them. He wanted to be sure they were okay. He didn’t want publicity, he just wanted impact. To this day, he follows up on them. That’s real leadership," said Nyarari.
