A fresh political storm is brewing within Kenya’s political landscape, with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party accusing the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of violating a power-sharing pact signed in March this year.

ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has faulted the government for allegedly reneging on the 10-point pact, citing incidences of continued abductions and enforced disappearances.

Further, Sifuna has hinted that the broad-based government agreement will feature prominently during the party’s planned National Delegates’ Conference in October.

The latest indication of its concerns is evident with the ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna claiming that the ruling coalition has negated the 10-point pact.

The Nairobi Senator says the events of the 25th of June and the 7th of July are testament that the pact is not being honoured. The MoU, which promised reforms in public service, youth empowerment and respect for constitutional freedoms, now, according to Sifuna, stands on shaky ground

Meanwhile, Sifuna condemned the utterances by Wajir Woman Rep Fatuma Jehow, a member of ODM, who alleged a plan to rig the 2027 polls calling on IEBC to summon her to explain her remarks.

Sifuna was speaking during the launch of the Young Captains initiative at Chungwa house in Nairobi County, where he also revealed the party will be holding its national delegates conference in October.
