Bungoma Law Courts Principal Magistrate, Hon. Tom Orlando, has sentenced six individuals, including two Ugandans, to 15 years in prison for robbery with violence.
The six—Milton Makuma, John Wakwale, Brian Ochieng, Dennis Andoli, Emmanuel Watiti, and Patrick Omia—along with another suspect who is still at large, were found guilty of robbing Mr. Michael Gacheche, also known as Cheche, of Ksh. 2,005,000 on the evening of June 8, 2020, outside the Keringet Hotel in Bungoma town.
The court heard that the assailants attacked Mr. Gacheche, shot him dead while he was inside his car, and fled the scene on a waiting motorcycle with the stolen money.

Initially, all seven suspects were arrested, but two escaped from police custody at Bungoma Police Station. Dennis Andoli was later rearrested while attempting to cross the Kenya-Uganda border, while John Wanyonyi Wamalwa remains at large.
In delivering the judgment, the court ruled that the Prosecution, led by Ayekha Shakwila, had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt, supported by testimonies from 18 prosecution witnesses. All the accused were found guilty, convicted, and sentenced accordingly.
