With the government moving the deadline to the end of February in 2026, tourism operators across the country are being given even more time to renew their licenses.
Under this notice, dated January 30, the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) said that renewals of licences and the accompanying applications must be made by February 28, 2026.
The additional time is a result of the delayed activation of the 2026 license renewal platform.
The extension is applicable to all tourism operators who are required to have their licence renewed. It includes those who operate tour vans, safari vehicles, and tour buses.
The purpose of the window is to permit the operator to renew its license without pressure, thus evading the potential penalty, which might be incurred after the deadline.
“All tourism enterprises whose licenses are due for renewal must complete the process within the extended period,” it stated.
They were also reminded that the renewal is done entirely through the TRA online portal and that no manual application will be accepted.
The TRA indicated that it would take action against traders who did not renew their licenses after the deadline.
However, if assistance and clarification are required, one can seek them in the offices of TRA, regional offices, and official channels of communication.
Meanwhile, the TRA has required all licensed tourism transport operators to obtain vehicle stickers through the online portal.
The stickers ensure that the tourism vehicles are safe and up to a certain standard.
To apply, operators are required to log into their TRA accounts, click on “manage vehicles,” input vehicle information, and then download the sticker after making payments.
The TRA claims that this initiative is part of the government’s drive to bring order to the tourism sector and ensure that only vehicles that meet safety standards operate in this sector.
