The Ministry of Education has been under increasing pressure to secure a placement process in a clear and transparent manner. The placement is meant for thousands of students who will be going to Senior School in January and are still seeking admission.

The country-wide release of Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results has provoked joy to the students. And this is because they believe that they will be able to get school places along the pathways of their choice.

While on a tour of schools to assess performances, John Mutonge, the Director of Good Shepherd Academy in Kerugoya, said that the Ministry of Education must be very careful in the organizing of the placements next week.

He said that learners from all over the country have studied the same curriculum, and it is only fair that in selecting those for higher education equal opportunity is granted to them.

Besides this, the education stakeholders again have called for timely and properly planned transition to grade 10. They pointed out that school heads receiving different messages about capitalisation and prep for the infrastructure might decide to give up on the smooth preparations of the new cohort.

In Ruiru, Kiambu County, the mood at DePaul Austin Academy was quite different as the parents and candidates took their time to evaluate their results and think about their next line of action.

Parents from various parts of the country are meanwhile lobbying the Ministry of Education to help them with the money charges especially during the school-fees and learning-materials periods that will come during the transition to Senior School.
