Strathmore Leos successfully defended their Prinsloo 7s crown after overpowering Driftwood champions KCB 26-7 in the final on Sunday at the Nakuru Athletic Club, marking the second leg of the 2024 SportPesa National Sevens Rugby Circuit.

Leos head coach Willis Ojal praised his side’s determination, stating, “We had to fight for our lives out there. This result sets the bar for us—we’re now focused on challenging for the overall circuit title.”

In the third-place playoff, Catholic Monks clinched the bronze medal with a hard-fought 17-10 win over Menengai Oilers.

Kenya Harlequin edged hosts Nakuru RFC 24-19 to secure fifth place, while Daystar Falcons cruised past Zetech University 39-0 in the ninth-place showdown. Mombasa RFC beat Stallions 12-5 to finish 13th.

In Division II, Blak Blad sealed promotion back to the top tier of the National Sevens Circuit with a 10-5 victory over Kabarak University in the final.

The women’s category saw Mwamba crowned champions after a 15-10 win over Kenya Harlequin, guided by new signing Mary Ochieng, formerly of Impala.

The SportPesa National Sevens Circuit now takes a break and will resume on August 16–17, when Kenya Harlequin hosts the Christie Sevens at RFUEA Grounds, Ngong Road, Nairobi.
