Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has showcased the county’s success in leveraging technology to boost revenue collection and service delivery, during a fact-finding visit by the Senate Standing Committee on ICT.

The delegation, led by Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang, was taken through the county’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which integrates revenue automation, health services via the Hospital Management Information Systems (HIMS), physical planning, land rates, and human resources.

Governor Wamatangi reported that the digital reforms had nearly doubled Kiambu’s revenue collection, rising from Ksh 2.9 billion in 2022 to Ksh 5.45 billion in the 2024/2025 financial year.

“The resources have enabled us to complete 312 model ECDE centers, roll out a comprehensive school feeding program, construct 6 level-four hospitals and 26 level-three hospitals, and install 12,000 solar-powered streetlights,” Wamatangi said.

The county has also distributed maize seeds and fertilizer to over 500,000 farmers, provided over 100,000 women with improved kienyeji chicks, and rolled out piglets distribution to boost livelihoods.

Senator Chesang and the committee lauded Kiambu’s model, noting that it could serve as a benchmark for other counties seeking to enhance efficiency, transparency, and development through digital systems.
