Kenyan teams competing at the Africa Volleyball Club Championships in Abuja, Nigeria, all secured spots in the quarterfinals after dominant performances in the round of 16 on Tuesday night.

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), two-time continental champions, cruised past Nigeria’s Customs Services with a 3-0 win, taking the sets 25-19, 25-16, and 25-17.

This victory provided a much-needed bounce-back after their narrow 3-2 loss to record champions Al Ahly of Egypt the previous night.

KCB will now face another Egyptian powerhouse, defending champions Zamalek, in the quarterfinals on Wednesday evening.

Kenya Pipeline also made it to the quarterfinals with a convincing 3-0 win over Botswana’s Spiking Sports Club.

Geoffrey Omondi’s side were in dominant form, dispatching their opponents 25-15, 25-12, and 25-6. As the African bronze medalists, Kenya Pipeline will look to continue their strong campaign when they take on Cameroon’s Litto in the quarters.

Kenya Prisons are also through to the quarterfinals after a dramatic five-set victory over Rwanda Police.

The match was a rollercoaster, with the wardresses claiming the first set 25-23, before Police responded with a 25-19 win in the second.

Prisons regained control with a 25-20 win in the third, only for Police to level the match at 2-2 with a 25-21 win in the fourth.

However, Josp Barasa’s side clinched the decider 15-10, ensuring their spot in the last eight.

They now face a tough challenge against Al Ahly in the quarterfinals.
