The private screening of Blood Parliament, a documentary by BBC about the June 25, 2024, demonstrations in Kenya, that was scheduled for today, Monday, April 28, has been cancelled.
BBC Africa Eye had organised the screening event at Unseen Nairobi to premiere the hard-hitting 35-minute investigative piece and thereafter host a panel discussion for deeper engagement with the issues uncovered in the documentary.
However, in the latest development, the media house informed the attendees that the event could not proceed as planned, without explaining why.
"Unfortunately, we are no longer able to proceed with the screening tonight. We are very disappointed not to be able to share the documentary with our guests as planned. However, we are working to explore alternative options and will be in touch accordingly if an alternative solution is found," read the communication to the invited attendees.
The film reconstructs the infamous Gen Z protests using OSINT analysis of 5,000+ images/videos, identifying suspected security personnel linked to the fatal shootings of protesters.
It reveals the devastating aftermath of the protests, including the deaths of several protestors, and raising questions about responsibility and accountability.
