Safaricom customers are in for a treat as the telco rolls out the M-PESA Sokoni Festival a colourful nationwide campaign packed with deals, entertainment, and support for local businesses.

Safaricom has officially kicked off the M-PESA Sokoni Festival, a countrywide celebration packed with unbeatable offers on everything from electronics and home appliances to fashion, travel, and beauty products.

The festival, launched today in Mombasa, is part of the wider M-PESA at 18 celebrations and ties into Safaricom’s 25th anniversary later this year. More than 150 local and national businesses are taking part, offering customers what the company calls ”deals kuruka” major discounts both in-person and online.

“M-PESA Sokoni is more than just a marketplace; it is a unique family friendly event where we are offering our esteemed customers an opportunity to enjoy amazing deals on a variety of products, great entertainment, and business owners get an opportunity to showcase their products and services, connect with customers and grow their brands,” said Safaricom CEO, Dr. Peter Ndegwa

The campaign starts with a full week of events in Mombasa, including Safire Connect a networking forum focused on personal growth, branding, and financial wellness and Wezesha Mama, an initiative by the M-PESA Foundation that offers women training and access to seed capital to help grow their businesses.

There will also be the M-PESA Agents Awards, which will recognize standout agents across the country, and Grow with Safaricom Business Forums, designed to help small and medium businesses improve their digital presence, understand marketing, and navigate common business challenges.

The week will wrap up on Saturday, June 7, with the main festival event at the Mombasa Sports Club Grounds. Expect music, food, live performances, and of course plenty of shopping deals.

“As Safaricom, we pride ourselves at being the biggest supporter of Kenyan passion points through music, sports and culture and the M-PESA Sokoni Festival is a great opportunity to showcase this. For those who will not manage to come physically, the offers will also be available on our e-commerce platform, Masoko.com,” Dr. Ndegwa added.

The M-PESA Sokoni Festival will travel to other regions in the coming weeks, giving more customers a chance to join in and learn about Safaricom products like Pochi la Biashara, Fuliza ya Biashara, Ziidi MMF, and more.

At its core, the campaign celebrates M-PESA’s role in transforming how Kenyans live, work, and do business while giving back to the people who’ve made that journey possible.
