President William Ruto has bid farewell to the outgoing United States of America’s Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman.
This follows her resignation on Wednesday, November 13, days after Donald Trump emerged victorious in the highly contested 2024 United States presidential election.
In his farewell message, Ruto noted that during Whitman’s stint, Kenya’s diplomatic ties with the USA have been elevated to the status of a major non-NATO ally.
"Kenya and the United States have enjoyed robust diplomatic relations for 60 years. These ties have been strengthened by our common and shared values of democracy, the rule of law and freedom.
In the past two years, our diplomatic ties have been elevated to the status of major non-NATO ally, signifying a high point for the relations between our two countries and peoples," said Ruto.
The president said Kenya is immensely grateful to Whitman for working so hard for the Kenya-United States partnership.
