The Ministry of Health has entered the final phase of preparations for the Kenya Health Summit 2026, with officials stepping up plans ahead of the national event scheduled for August 18 and 19 in Nairobi.
Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni chaired a technical planning meeting on Monday, bringing together committees overseeing the organisation of the summit.
The meeting reviewed progress made by each committee and assessed outstanding tasks that must be completed before the two day event.
Officials also discussed the summit’s key themes and plenary sessions, which will guide discussions on Kenya’s ongoing health reforms and the future of healthcare delivery.
According to the ministry, the committees also presented updates on exhibition preparations, including booth bookings, as well as the financial and logistical arrangements needed to host the summit.
The summit will be held under the theme, “Reforms Delivered, Health as a Right.”
Mary Muthoni said the event will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to assess the progress made in reforming the health sector and identify practical solutions to existing challenges.
The summit is expected to bring together representatives from the national and county governments, healthcare professionals, the private sector, development partners, civil society organisations and community groups.
The discussions will focus on reviewing ongoing health sector reforms, addressing emerging challenges and agreeing on measures to improve access to quality healthcare for all Kenyans.
With just weeks to go before the summit, the ministry says preparations are now in the final stretch as it works to ensure the event delivers meaningful outcomes for the country’s healthcare sector.
