President William Ruto is presiding over a pass-out parade for newly-trained Kenya Forest Service (KFS) Inspector Cadets and Forest Trainees in Nakuru, marking a significant step in the government’s ambitious environmental restoration plans.

The induction of these officers into KFS is part of the government’s ongoing initiative to plant 15 billion trees by 2032, a key strategy in combating the impacts of climate change.

The president highlighted the central role that the newly trained officers will play in restoring forest cover across the nation.

“With the addition of more officers in the KFS, we are reinforcing our commitment to creating a sustainable environment and addressing the urgent issues of climate resilience and food security,” Ruto stated.

The initiative aligns with the government’s strategy to tackle climate change, which poses a direct threat to the country’s food security.

Through afforestation and environmental protection, the KFS will work to restore degraded lands, protect water catchment areas, and create a more climate-resilient ecosystem.
