President William Ruto has reiterated Kenya’s strong and enduring relationship with the United States, emphasizing the shared values of democracy, freedom, and global peace.

During a meeting at State House, Nairobi, with lawmakers from the State of West Virginia, including Rollan Roberts and Jack Woodrum, as well as former Congressman Mark Deli, President Ruto discussed the growing partnership between the two nations and its mutual benefits.

President Ruto noted that Kenya and the US have continued to build on their longstanding strategic relationship, particularly in areas such as the fight against terrorism and cross-border crimes.

He underscored the importance of these collaborative efforts in enhancing security and stability in both countries and the broader region.

“The partnership between Kenya and the United States is not just about shared values but also about tangible actions that contribute to regional peace and global security,” said President Ruto. “Together, we are working to counter terrorism and prevent the spread of other crimes that undermine our collective progress.”

A significant highlight of the discussion was the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which has provided Kenya and the broader African continent with increased access to the US market.

This initiative has opened doors for Kenyan businesses and entrepreneurs, allowing them to expand their reach and engage more fully in global trade.

“We appreciate the continued support from the United States through initiatives like AGOA, which has greatly benefitted Kenyan businesspeople and companies, providing them with a platform to succeed on the international stage,” President Ruto added.

In addition to trade and economic cooperation, President Ruto commended the United States for its ongoing role in the pursuit of peace and stability in Africa, particularly in the Great Lakes and the Horn of Africa regions.

The US, through various diplomatic and peacebuilding initiatives, has been a key partner in supporting peace efforts in these areas.

The meeting also highlighted future opportunities for collaboration in strengthening trade relations, advancing security cooperation, and enhancing diplomatic ties between the two nations.
