President William Ruto has underscored the pivotal role of technical training colleges in unlocking opportunities for Kenya’s youth.
Speaking on Wednesday at National TVET Centenary Celebrations, Kabete National Polytechnic, Nairobi ,Ruto described technical training colleges as “the master key to the door of opportunities” for young Kenyans.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions as part of a broader strategy to boost industrialization, technology, and innovation in Kenya.
“The investment in our TVET institutions is not just about education; it’s about powering our nation’s growth and enhancing our global competitiveness,” Ruto declared. He highlighted ongoing initiatives aimed at modernizing technical colleges, expanding their infrastructure, and integrating cutting-edge technology into the curriculum.
The President noted that technical training colleges play a crucial role in equipping students with practical skills that are directly applicable in the job market. This, he argued, is essential for driving Kenya’s economic transformation and creating a workforce capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.
Ruto also pointed out that the celebration of the National TVET Centenary was a testament to the significant strides made in the sector over the past hundred years. The event, held at one of Kenya’s leading technical institutions, served as a platform to showcase the achievements of TVET colleges and their impact on the nation’s development.
The President’s remarks were met with applause from the audience, who expressed optimism about the future of TVET in Kenya. The ceremony concluded with a call to action for continued support and investment in technical education as a cornerstone of Kenya’s economic future.
The Kabete National Polytechnic, a key player in Kenya’s technical education landscape, hosted the event, further cementing its role in shaping the future of the country’s technical and vocational training.
