ODM leader Raila Odinga has said that he will support President William Ruto until the 2027 General Election upon the lapse of his first term.
His declaration rubbishes rumours of him exiting the broad based government arrangement early after differing on some issues with the head of state, for instance, the shoot to injure directive President Ruto gave the police.
Speaking to NTV, the former premier said he is firmly aligned with President Ruto’s leadership and will help him deliver on the government’s promises.
He insisted he will not engage in any premature succession politics until the government delivers to Kenyans.
Asked about supporting President Ruto’s reelection bid, Raila did not rule it out but said he will discuss it with his ODM party before making any decision.
“We have said that we are in the broad-based government until 2027. We did not say that we are going to work with UDA beyond 2027. Those are issues that we will discuss at the appropriate time, and the decision will be made by ODM party members, not Raila Odinga alone,” said Raila.
