Approximately 10,000 citizens and officials are expected to gather at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on Friday for the swearing-in of Prof. Kithure Kindiki as the Deputy President of Kenya.

This significant event follows a High Court ruling on Thursday that lifted an injunction against Kindiki’s inauguration after the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua.

From dawn, excited crowds began assembling outside KICC, eagerly awaiting the 10:00 a.m. ceremony.

The venue will host 3,000 seated attendees, with an additional 7,000 standing participants joining in solidarity to witness Kindiki’s official assumption of office.

In preparation for the high-profile event, law enforcement agencies have fortified security around the conference center, ensuring a safe environment for all attendees.

“It is notified for the general information of the public that the swearing-in ceremony of the Deputy President-designate shall take place on Friday, 1st November 2024, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (K.I.C.C.), in Nairobi City County, from 10.00 O’clock,” read a gazette notice issued by Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau. Additionally, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has gazetted the members of the Assumption to Office of the Deputy President Committee, assigned to oversee all arrangements for the ceremony.

Prof. Kindiki’s swearing-in marks a new chapter in Kenya’s leadership as the government looks to usher in a renewed period of national service and governance.
