Renowned Congolese preacher and philanthropist, Prophet Charles Motondo, has urged Kenyans to stop mocking President William Ruto, warning that such actions could have serious spiritual consequences.
Speaking during a recent visit to Kenya, Prophet Motondo expressed concern over the use of disrespectful nicknames like “Kasongo” aimed at the president, emphasizing that they undermine both the leader’s position and God’s authority in appointing him.
“Using such names for the president disrespects God’s will,” Motondo said. “The Bible warns us against speaking ill of those appointed by God. Criticizing the president is like criticizing God.”
The prophet also called on Kenyans to reflect on corruption, noting that it extends beyond the government and affects churches and society as well. He urged the public to show respect for their leaders, while holding all sectors accountable. Additionally, he encouraged President Ruto to address the frustrations of citizens with empathy and decisive action.
“No president will ever be universally loved. They come and go,” he remarked. “We’ve had many leaders before, and now we have President Ruto. Didn’t the same people protest against the previous president? Every leader faces challenges during their time in office.”
Prophet Motondo further reminded Kenyans that while criticism of leaders is natural, it’s important to understand that such expressions often stem from frustration rather than hate. He prayed that God would help President Ruto recognize this and work towards resolving the issues the people are facing.
“When people cry, it’s not out of hatred, but out of frustration,” he said. “The president must do his best to address these concerns, as God chose him to lead the nation.”
