The Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Eng. Eric Mugaa, and Principal Secretary Julius Korir on Thursday visited the ongoing water supply project serving Moi University and surrounding communities in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County.

The project, led by the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency, is designed to improve access to clean and reliable water for residents in areas including Talai, Chebaiywo, Tulwo, Kiburwo, and St. John.

During the visit, the leaders inspected the intake area, the reinforced concrete intake chamber, the pedestrian footbridge, and the pipelines connecting the dam to the treatment plant and local distribution network.

CS Mugaa encouraged the contractor to increase the capacity of the raw water main to ensure the system can meet future demand, avoiding costly upgrades later.

He also highlighted plans for a larger phase of the project, which will see the Kesses Dam and water intake structure upgraded, a new water treatment plant constructed, additional storage facilities developed, and more households connected to the water network.
