President William Ruto has signed into law two bills at State House, Nairobi.
The President assented to the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terrorism Financing Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and Insurance (Professional) Bill, 2025.
The Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terrorism Financing Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025, amends the governance structure of the Financial Reporting Centre (FRC), granting it greater independence.
The new law aims to improve Kenya’s global financial reputation, enhance oversight capabilities across Kenya’s financial institutions and deal with unlawful financial flows.
The Insurance (Professional) Bill, 2025, seeks to restore public trust in the insurance sector and ensure accountability in claims settlement.
The Insurance Professional Bill introduces strict penalties for misconduct in the insurance sector, targeting directors and principal officers who delay or deny claims without just cause.
